Pogo by Walt Kelly

Walt Kelly's Pogo was a favorite character of
mine when I was young.  I collected – and still have – all the
early published books from the first one in the late forties to
the ones published up to the mid 1960s.  The early books contain
much material that was quite dark and powerful, with a strong
admixture of political satire.  I feel that this material has
historic and artistic value. This is particularly true now that
there is so much interest in the Graphic Novel.  Young people
today might be quite interested to learn about the roots of this
growing genre. I have quite digitized several of what I believe
are the most historically relevant and creative sequences.  I
think this material is too well done and too historically valuable
to be allowed to disappear, and I have found virtually nothing of
it on the Internet.  My attempts to trace the copyright holder
have been unsuccessful.
